Fife Art Exhibition 2020

Fife Art Exhibition 2020

Fife Art Exhibition 2020

Fife’s biggest annual arts competition went ahead in 2020 with a new theme and in a brand new venue - Rothes Halls and online!

Theme – Coast and Waters

In 2020, a Visit Scotland initiative celebrated Scotland’s Coast and Waters with a programme of activity designed to inspire both visitors and locals to explore and experience our beautiful shores.

The coastline of Fife is unrivalled and as such, we challenged 2020 participants to reflect this in the artwork they submitted.

Change of Venue

This year, the exhibition took place in Rothes Halls, Kingdom Centre, Glenrothes, KY7 5NX and you can enjoy the Exhibition Film below.

Art tutorials

This year, due to covid 19, the entry process for The Fife Art Exhibition was online only. Our generous sponsor Shell, funded the making of these tutorials to encourage participation in the exhibition. The tutorials were delivered in Lochgelly Centre Art Department by two local tutors, Laura Rigby and Colin Joyce. Laura demonstrates the art of 'journaling' and Colin demonstrates how to paint a complete watercolour painting using only three colours.

They are aimed at complete beginners and it's our hope that they may inspire the creation of some beautiful artwork.

Shell – our generous sponsor

As in previous years, the six works judged the best are being purchased by Shell for presentation to Fife hospitals and healthcare facilities. Each of the winning artists received a Shell award of £200.

Shell recognized that this year’s exhibition opportunity was important to our local arts and crafts community. For this group, the creation of artwork was a welcome focus during the lockdown period and we are delighted to host such a large, inspirational display!
